1. Emu Oil
Loved by celebrities and supported by clinical research, emu oil is the next thing in skin care. I’ve been using this brand for under a month on my face, and I love the improvement in texture, redness, and moisture that I’ve been seeing.
Emu oil is a powerful moisturizer that penetrates deep into the skin. It is a naturally powerful “transdermal carrier’, which means that it penetrates your skin with great efficiency. It has natural anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, healing, moisturizing and non-comedogenic (will not clog pores) properties.
It has been helping me with blemishes, as well as a patch of eczema that comes and goes on my face.
I typically put a couple of drops in my palm and mix it with some water to aid with spreading. I use this on my skin in the morning and my Homemade Vitamin C Serum at night. I love how my skin looks better than my early 20s!
2. Raw Garlic
Everyone knows how powerful raw garlic is. It’s great for everything from candida to a cold, but have you ever taken it for a sugar high?
My husband and I have been using this little trick for years, and I swear by it! Whenever we indulge in treats or are feeling a bit spacey or fatigued after eating something sweet, we eat a clove of raw garlic.
I truly feel like it aids in combating the ups and downs from eating a bit too much sweetness.
3. Trader Joe’s Jasmine Brown Rice
Jeepers, this stuff is crazy good!
I wouldn’t hesitate to call myself a rice connoisseur, given the amount of the grain I’ve eaten over the years, and I’ve come to a point where I feel I can tell you that I’ve found the caviar of the tiny food….and it’s at your local Trader Joe’s.
This stuff is consistently delicious in taste and never has the dark spots you might find on a bulk choice (a sign of being old or even mold). It also cooks easily and quickly.
Have you ever smelled rice? I find a lot of the bulk brands or even packaged brands smell ‘old’. Trader Joe’s rice (I’m talking specifically about the brown Jasmine variety) always smells fresh and is, in my opinion, one of the best buys from that store.
I can’t express to you how much I love this stuff! It is much sweeter than cocoa powder, decreasing the amount of sugar needed in desserts, it is kid-friendly (no caffeine high), and it has a natural ‘malt’ taste that I like to add to smoothies like this one to give it a malted milkshake quality.
Though I enjoy the toasted variety, its raw counterpart is my favorite way to enjoy the bean. It’s a great treat if you have allergies to cocoa, have kids you’re trying to feed, or are just sensitive to caffeine. My girls both LOVE it!
Another bonus is that it pairs very well with stevia (unlike cocoa powder), allowing more freedom to create truly sugar-free treats.
5. My First Video
I’ve been mulling over the idea of creating a video for a long time, and I’m pleased to say I’ve finally completed my first one!
It was a difficult decision for me, as my husband and I had to invest a sizable amount of money into the project, and I didn’t know if I could actually DO it. I’m ultimately hoping to gain a more personal relationship with some of you regular readers. 🙂
Do you have anything you’ve been loving lately?
I hope you all have a Happy Valentine’s Day!!
