1. Ginger Storage
I buy and use ginger often, and for years now, I’ve thrown shriveled ginger away as I haven’t used it as quickly as I’ve bought it.
Just recently, however, I’ve started keeping it in a bag in the freezer, where it stays fresh forever! It also grates nicely when it’s frozen, so it’s a win-win situation.
Though I love peanut butter, I’m weary of the aflatoxins associated with eating it in large quantities, so I like to rotate the nut/seed butters I use.
I recently purchased this raw sprouted pumpkin seed butter, and I’m just loving it!
It’s so creamy, with NO added ingredients, and it makes a great spread for my Ezekiel toast topped with a drizzle of raw honey or even atop apple slices.
3. Aspirin Mask
For years, I’ve heard of the aspirin mask, but had yet to try it until recently.
What a great (and cheap) way to really make your skin beautiful.
I just mix four aspirin tablets (grinding them in a coffee grinder is the best way to break them down) with a little raw honey and water, until it makes a paste. I then spread it on my face and leave it on for about 30 minutes, rinsing with warm water afterwards.
As soon as I rinse it off, my skin feels softer and more dewy, and it’s great for breakouts as well, as the salicylic acid naturally occurring in aspirin is a key ingredient in many acne topicals.
Next time you’re at the dollar store, pick up a bottle of aspirin and give it a shot!
4. Green Tea Toner
Another great little beauty treatment I’ve been trying (there’s always something, I know) is a homemade green tea toner.
I see green tea in many a beauty product and figured it wouldn’t hurt to add it to my skin routine.
For my toner, I use three parts brewed and cooled organic green tea to one part apple cider vinegar. It has a slight smell because of the vinegar, so if you’re sensitive, you may just want to use it at night. I usually use it in the morning, since my hubby is used to all my weird odors. 🙂
