Chocolate Sunbutter Smoothie - A creamy, delicious, and energizing breakfast that is nutritious and delicious! This is my daughter Jade's favorite way to start a day. NO bananas needed!
The first time I tried Sunbutter, I wasn't particularly impressed. It's definitely not peanut butter!
Having said that, though, Sunbutter has grown on me over the years, and my daughter Jade loves it! She eats it on rice cakes, celery, and she is especially fond of it in today's smoothie.
This smoothie has come about and developed in the best way possible.
Jade began with a chocolate smoothie 'prototype', and it progressed from a high carb sugar bomb into a delicious shake that she looks forward to each morning.
As Jade is my most allergic child, creating recipes for her can be particularly frustrating. It's also hard on her to see her siblings be able to eat more normally.
Her and I are very much alike in a lot of ways, including having similar allergies and reactions.

Is Sunbutter required?
Some of you may feel about Sunbutter the way I feel about beets...
For that reason, I'll let you know that Jade has tried this with peanut butter with good success (though she says to use the unsalted peanut butter), and Natalie likes this recipe with almond butter. Miss Nat hates Sunbutter, lol!
Alternative milks to use
Jade loves her chocolate Sunbutter smoothie with rice milk, but here are a few other options on the blog that may interest you:
However you make this, Jade and I hope you enjoy it!
