Howdy! So, I know I said I’d be posting meals for firefighters every Friday, but we’re going a different direction today. Truth be told, blogs need decent pictures up, and I haven’t been providing that. Soooo to rectify the situation, yesterday was spent tracking down a camera that would make the grade. Why am I telling you all of this? Because it prevented my photographing the meal I had planned….but, rest assured, next Friday you can look forward to the chicken and rice dish that almost made its way into today’s post. While I figure out how to use the new camera, here’s a pic of today’s yummy breakfast (to be explained at the end) with the old one!
Last night I hit my stride running and busted out 2.65 miles! Yeah, I know, big whoop, right? Hey, that’s the farthest I’ve ever run! I haven’t talked about my workout routine much since starting this blog, but I’d like to include it more. I’ve always been into lifting weights, but never cardio. After having my first baby, Jade, I bounced back really fast and expected to do so with my second, Natalie. When that didn’t happen, I found my current workout routine wasn’t really working for me anymore. I seemed to have hit a plateau(which makes sense considering I had been doing virtually the same thing, slightly varied, for years). After doing some reading, I came across bloggers who inspired me to run and try circuit workouts. I’m telling you, I have never seen changes like I have since this. I also began incorporating the workouts by Tony Horton of P90X. This is a 90-day program, but I just sort of pick and choose what I like…teehee. His Ab Ripper X is an awesome core workout! Today I will be doing this workout, buuuuut I have to cut it in half! So I do 5 sets of 25 reps. It is from Men’s Health, so I figure this ain’t too bad for a chick. P.s. If you’re a fireman sitting on his booty with a remote in one hand and a brownie that the local ‘thankful for all you do’ granny baked in the other, you best get up and do the 5 sets of 50!
And just so today isn’t without food, my breakfast this morning was phenomenal! Courtesy of the Fitnessista, I made her raw cookie cereal.
I followed her basic recipe, but I also added about 1/2 cup of raisins. It was so good! I absolutely love cold cereal, but feel like it’s a complete waste of calories. This is like eating healthy cold cereal, only it doesn’t taste healthy.
And hopefully to make you smile….
Have a great weekend and a great Mother’s Day!
Who’s stoked for The Bachelorette on Monday????????!!!!!!!!!!! Yeauh!
