We see labeling on just about every plastic product now that purports it to be ‘BPA-free’, but have you heard of Bis-GMA?
This scary ingredient is pervasive in the dental world, and was recently put into my mouth before I had any knowledge of its detriment.
I have since developed perioral dermatitis, which is basically a rash right around the mouth.
I am writing this in hopes of helping someone on the verge of filling cavities.
There ARE Bis-GMA-FREE composites out there, which you can research or ask your dentist about.
Also, you can obtain a test that looks at what dental material you are allergic to for $250 through this site.
The dental industry makes me so mad! They charge outrageous fees to put chemicals and (possible) allergens into our mouths and, subsequently, our bodies. Take care of your teeth now, so you can avoid these horrors later.
Speaking of teeth, let’s talk toothpaste.
This homemade, kid-friendly toothpaste from Live Simply is awesome and a great way to start down the natural path for tooth care.
I like using Real Salt in place of the baking soda and I skip the stevia and essential oils (I’m not fussy with taste).
If you’re not into the whole DIY thing, try EarthPaste! It’s totally along the same lines, minus the coconut oil.
Despite the record-breaking high temperatures here in Tucson, I am preparing to make oodles of soft, fluffy marshmallows for our hot chocolate, s’mores, and just to snack on.
I love my Healthier Honey/Stevia Marshmallows primarily because they contain less sugar, which also amounts to less carbs and less calories.
4. Grapeseed Oil
When I first got my rash, my first thought was that it had something to do with a product that I was applying directly to my face.
While that proved to be false, I discovered that grapeseed oil makes a great, inexpensive moisturizer.
It contains numerous fatty acids, as well as vitamin E, and it is touted to be non-comodegenic.
I literally just use the same stuff I buy to cook and bake with. Don’t you love multi-purpose products? 🙂
5. Zinc…and Something Odd…
This is directed at all you ladies.
So, I’ve been taking a zinc supplement off and on for a number of years, but it’s only been recently that I’ve noticed….something interesting.
I’m not sure how to say this, but, getting right to it…I seem to become irresistible to my husband!
Now, I’m not saying this effect is immediate or that other factors, such as his own emotions, don’t come into play, but I’ve experimented with this phenomenon more than enough to know that there’s something to it!
I suspect it’s more of an unconscious-pheromone-smell thing, rather than a ‘love spell’ of any sort.
When you think about it, it kind of makes sense, especially considering certain aphrodisiacs, like oysters, contain a high amount of the mineral.
If any of you are interested enough to try it out, I’d love to know the outcome!
Any interesting finds in your life this week?
