If you’re new to the blog, Friday Finds is all about new products, recipes, ideas, DIYs, etcetera, that I’ve tried and liked. I’m not getting paid by any companies or persons to write about these things, I just want to pass on some interesting info.
I hope you enjoy this week’s list!
1. Pumpkin Seed Meal
Pumpkin seeds are one of only a few nuts/seeds that I tolerate well, so I recently started experimenting with the ground meal in a few cookie recipes.
Let me say, I am thoroughly impressed!
I just grind the seeds in my food processor or coffee grinder to make the meal, which acts in a similar fashion as almond flour.
I’m hoping to have one of my cookie recipes up on Monday!
My husband and I recently purchased a glucometer to test our blood sugar throughout a day. It’s been interesting, to say the least!
To test yourself, you have to poke your finger with an included lancet and squeeze a drop of blood onto a test strip. The strip is inserted into the glucometer, which gives you a blood sugar reading within seconds.
We’ve tested mainly after eating higher carb foods in order to determine if certain things affect us, though I’m trying to devise an experiment for the blog.
So far, it has helped my husband determined that instead of blood sugar issues, he actually has an allergy to wheat and spelt flours.
For myself, I’m suspecting that even small blood sugar fluctuations affect me greatly, given a couple of readings.
A glucometer is a good investment if you’re looking to test some foods in your diet!
3. Sea Salt and Lemon Scrub
This is my new favorite at-home treatment
Basically, you add one part lemon juice to two parts sea salt (use a good one like this Himalayan kind).
Lemon juice is full of vitamin C and sea salt is packed with minerals, both of which contribute to good, clear, smooth skin.
Once these two are mixed, you use your fingers to gently massage your face for 1-2 minutes. It may sting a bit, but my skin is so soft and clear afterwards! It’s definitely worth a try.
If you’re on the hunt for some good ways to keep your toddler busy, Susie’s blog is packed full of at-home games and art projects to entertain those frenetic tots!
This one looks like a fun way to use those plastic Easter eggs after the holiday has passed!
Her blog is truly a treasure trove of ideas!
5. Botox-Free Frown Line Fix?
I just had a birthday, making mortality and age all the more vivid.
However, it didn’t take an extra year to see that I’ve started developing frown lines! I’ve considered Botox in the past, but multiple things deter me, including the cost and possible side effects (I’m allergic to everything!).
I recently stumbled upon this technique, which I plan on implementing from this point on.
It’s quick, easy, and best of all…free!!
The vlogger is quite convincing, and the comments are mostly positive, so why not?
What’s new in your world?
