It works efficiently at making small batches of anything, including processing dates into a paste, and I don’t have to constantly scrape down the sides of the container, like I would if I were to use its larger brother. I also love the bright red color! We have a red toaster, so it’s also nice to have some continuity to the kitchen color scheme. 😀
Yes folks, it’s true. I may be on my own with this one, but I’m telling you, you need to try it!
I’m not a fan of processed protein powders, so I’ve been throwing 1/4-1/2 cup of beans in with some of my and my kids’ smoothies. The cannellini (white) beans , in particular, are so creamy that they blend right in! They also add eight grams of protein per 1/2 cup.
My kids’ favorite concoction as of late is hemp milk, carob powder, 1/2 cup cannellini beans, raw honey, and ice. Jadie calls it her ‘chocolate milkshake’. 🙂
3. Men and Blogging
The boys are taking over!
With such deliciousness like these Cauliflower Breadsticks, Thai Peanut Stuffed Sweet Potatoes, this Gluten-Free Mango and Coconut Tart, and these Chocolate Covered Banana Bites, I’m all for this new movement!

They all offer clean, but uncomplicated and approachable ways to eat healthy and still indulge in your favorite foods!
4. Cacao = Cacao Minus the O?
Though he can be a bit cliché and rhetorical in some areas, I love watching for the recipes and to possibly learn something new.
He recently had on Mike Adams from Natural News who purported that cacao powders may be contaminated with heavy metals. I believe he actually stated that they all do, in fact, contain some level of lead, cadmium, or mercury, which startled me (I couldn’t get the video to load, so I wasn’t able to replay it to know for sure)!
Having gone through years of chelation for mercury myself, I try to avoid metals at ANY cost, so I wanted to share this information here and possibly gain your opinion. To learn more, check out this and this.
5. Weekend Movie Pick
Towards the beginning of the week, my husband and I had a rare block of time with nothing to do, so we started perusing Red Box for something fun to rent.
After watching the trailer for Blackfish, I totally wanted to see it! A lot of commenters were saying that it was too political, but I found it to be a truly powerful story of these super intelligent mammals (and it made me happy I haven’t taken my kids to Sea World).
I was moved to tears many times throughout this flick, but I’m so happy that I watched it! If you have 90 minutes to spare this weekend, I highly recommend it!
Have you discovered anything new this week? Are you familiar with cacao having high levels of heavy metals?
