NO coconut or dates needed for these lower sugar, no-bake chocolate chip energy balls! Nut-free, gluten-free, and very little added sweetener.

I love these chocolate chip energy balls.
They're full of flavor and nutrition, and they're great for keeping on hand when you need a quick pick-me-up.
My kids really enjoyed these, and the hubs claimed, 'these are the best cookie dough treats you've ever made!'
I enjoy adding in a dash of cinnamon, which pairs well with the oat and maple syrup flavors.
However you make them, I think you will really enjoy these scrumptious treats!

Ingredients needed for chocolate chip energy balls
- Oat flour - You can make your own oat flour by grinding oats in a coffee grinder or food processor.
- Cinnamon, sea salt - Both contribute to flavor.
- Nut or seed butter - Peanut butter, almond butter, and cashew butter are all delicious.
- Oil - Melted coconut oil, melted butter, or olive oil all work well. My oldest daughter doesn't care for the olive oil taste, but I love it. If you want to skip the oil altogether, try a tablespoon of water or an extra tablespoon of maple syrup.
- Maple syrup - I've also used molasses with great results.
- Applesauce - Use jarred or freshly made applesauce without any sugar.
- Vanilla extract
- Chocolate chips - Mini chocolate chips or chopped chocolate mix in best.
These are so easy to make, assuming you have oat flour on hand. Just mix everything together in a bowl, roll, and serve or chill for later!

Energy ball variations
- Add in some pie spice in lieu of cinnamon.
- Use raisins or other cut up dried fruit instead of chocolate chips.
- Include a tablespoon or two of sprinkles for fun!

One must tell me...how do you not eat the whole batch in 5 min? My heart tells me to make them, my mind says, "You aren't strong enough to have self-control with these." LOL Great recipe, Lauren! I know we will all love them ๐

Haha, it is very difficult, especially before the dough is broken up into bites! The hubs will stand there and eat the whole batch if I let him. Must be nice to be a growing boy, lol.
