Hello all!
I hope you had a very merry Christmas.
We were plagued by sickness, so it made for a rather down day, but we were all together, so that was nice!
As 2023 draws near and we close out a drab 2022, I thought it might be fun to do a round-up of my most popular recipes this year.
Maybe you'll see something you forgot about and give it a try!
I'll see you in 2023 with a slew of healthy, low sugar recipes to help you 'detox' from the sugar-filled holidays! 🙂
Let's kick off the list with number 10!
Vegan Cheese Sauce
I remember when I initially tried this recipe, I couldn't believe how awesome the texture was. While I can't say it tastes like cheese, it is a great facsimile, and it goes mighty fine with some steamed broccoli or crispy corn chips!
Candida Diet Bread
I made this some years ago when Jade's allergies were at their worst, and I was trying to create a gluten-free, gum-free, starch-free, nut-free bread for her. It employs coconut and buckwheat flours, and it has a really great texture for an allergy-friendly bread!
Chicken Cabbage Soup
This is one of my best 'reset' soups. Maybe you've had a few too many carbs in a day, and you need a nutritious meal full of protein and veggies? This is the soup!
Vegan Red Lentil Dal
This was originally titled 'my carnivorous husband's favorite vegan meal' because it is! He would slurp this up like no one's business. It's a great way to have a meatless Monday!
Ground Turkey Sausage
I don't generally eat pork, but I used to love sausage on my pizza! So, I came up with this recipe that tastes just like sausage, except it's made with ground turkey! Perfect for any pizza.
Spelt Flour Tortillas
Far and away, this is one of our favorites! I've been making these for years, and we use them for all our tortilla needs, including cheese crisps, burritos, and Mexican lasagna (I'll have to post that!).
Overnight Oats Without Chia Seeds
While I can enjoy chia seeds, I haven't tolerated them in years. I once read that they can get lodged in the folds of the digestive tract. I'm not sure that's true, but they upset my gut, so maybe? This is my favorite overnight oats recipe, period. Chia seeds or not!
Oat Flour Pie Crust
This has topped my most popular list for years. It's the only crust I use for our pies!
Simple Cabbage and Eggs
Number two on the most popular list is this simple cabbage with eggs recipe. This is a quick and satisfying meal when you don't have much time, and it's amazingly healthy!
And now, the NUMBER ONE recipe of the year is....
Homemade Apple Pie Filling (Sugar-Free!)
I originally created this as an accoutrement to pancakes, but it's delicious on its own too! I also like to pair it with yogurt and granola for a sweet snack!
Well, that's it for 2022! I hope you enjoyed this recap and find something yummy to make. Happy new year, everyone, and I'll see you soon!
