This delicious pizza popcorn recipe is a fun take on classic popcorn. By combining a few Italian spices with parmesan and butter, you've got a delicious popcorn variation inspired by one of America's favorite foods!
With school back in session, I'm trying out various snack recipes for the kids, not the least of which includes today's pizza popcorn!
I love my basic olive oil popcorn recipe, but this takes it up a notch by adding in basil, oregano, and parmesan. Parmesan is such a delicious addition. I makes the popcorn irresistibly cheesy, and the spices add just a hint of Italian without overpowering the recipe.
My kids all gave this a thumbs up, and it makes a great lunchbox snack for them!
Ingredients and substitutions
- Popcorn kernels - White or yellow both work equally well.
- Butter
- Dried oregano
- Dried basil
- Sea salt
- Grated parmesan - Finely grated works best!
Directions
Pop your corn kernels in an air popper.
In the meantime, gently melt the butter with the oregano, basil, and salt.
Toss the popped corn with the butter mixture. Sprinkle the parmesan atop the popcorn and serve!
Recipe tips

Red pepper flakes give this a nice kick!
If you're inclined, add a small piece of garlic to the butter while it's melting for a garlicky hit. Remove the garlic before tossing the butter with the popcorn.
Pizza Popcorn (Pizza Flavor Meets Buttery Popcorn!)
Ingredients
- 3 Tablespoons popcorn kernels unpopped
- 2-3 Tablespoons butter
- ¼ teaspoon dried oregano
- ¼ teaspoon dried basil
- ¼ teaspoon sea salt
- 2 Tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Using an air popper, pop your corn kernels.
- Gently melt the butter with the oregano, basil, and salt. We like three tablespoons for a buttery taste, but two tastes good too if you're looking to cut the fat a bit.
- Toss the popped corn with the butter mixture.
- Sprinkle the parmesan over the top, toss a bit, and enjoy!
