Slow cooker steel cut oatmeal

Hot Chocolate Oatmeal

These steel-cut oats cook slowly overnight and yield a chocolat-y bowl of deliciousness in the morning!

  • 1 cup steel cut oats
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk (see Notes)
  • 1 Tbsp sweetener (coconut sugar, maple syrup, etc.)
  • 1 Tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 8 drops stevia (see Notes)


  1. Blend or mix the water, milk, cocoa, sweetener, vanilla, salt, and stevia.

  2. Stir in the oats.

  3. Oil the inside of your crock pot (this prevents the oatmeal from sticking).

  4. Pour in the above mixture.
  5. Set your crock pot to LOW for 1-2 hours before you go to bed, and turn it to KEEP WARM before retiring to bed.

  6. Top as desired with a few chocolate chips, milk of your choice, and/or a bit more sweetener.

  7. Enjoy!
