Protein Hot Chocolate

A rich and creamy hot chocolate recipe made with the addition of an egg for extra protein and thickness.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups milk or water
  • 2 Tbsp nut or seed butter (only add if using water)
  • 2 Tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1-2 Tbsp honey, to taste (granulated sweetener would suffice)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • good dash sea salt
  • 1 large egg
  • stevia, to taste optional

Instructions

  • Blend the water with nut or seed butter, if not using already prepared milk.
  • In a medium saucepan, whisk the egg with the honey (or other sweetener of choice), cocoa powder, and salt.
  • Whisk in the milk until all is smooth.
  • Place pot over medium heat and stir consistently for about 5-6 minutes or until the mixture has thickened.
  • Stir in the vanilla, as well as extra sweetener or stevia, to taste.
  • Top with whipped cream, marshmallows, cinnamon, etcetera, and enjoy!
