This rich and creamy Greek yogurt chocolate smoothie is high in protein and full of flavor. It's quick and easy, and it's a great smoothie to help keep your blood sugar balanced in a day.

Smoothies can be such sugar bombs, you know what I mean?
Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed my fair share of blended bananas and dates, but I tend to treat those shakes like a dessert now.
What helps buffer the sugar is protein! Adding a big scoop of Greek yogurt and nut butter and keeping the banana to a minimum are all tricks I've employed with this recipe to help keep my blood sugar balanced.
The taste is delicious! Jade has been requesting this daily for breakfast, and I'll occasionally make it for a snack for all the kids.
Ingredients and substitutions
- Milk of your choice - Water will also work.
- Greek yogurt
- Frozen banana
- Nut or seed butter - Peanut butter is my fave!
- Cocoa powder
- Vanilla extract
Recipe steps
Simply add everything to a blender and puree until smooth.
The best way to ensure easy blending is to add the liquid and softer ingredients first (milk, yogurt, nut/seed butter, etc.).
Optional add-ins
You could boost the protein even more with some of these options or just add a little extra flavor with some spice or sugar-free sweetness.
- Hemp seeds
- Chia seeds
- Protein powder
- Cinnamon
- Stevia or monk fruit for a little extra sweetness
Recipe notes
Keep in mind, this recipe is modestly sweetened with banana.
