Raw Avocado ‘Fries’

Greetings all! I hope everyone had a great weekend! If you follow me on Facebook, you saw this cartoon yesterday morning….

A little teaser for today’s recipe, which I hope you’ll like!

The world of raw food seems to be a polarizing one. Those that advocate it, swear it leads to benefits such as weight loss, increased vitality, and clearer skin. Others claim it causes nutritional deficiencies and malnourishment. For those of you unfamiliar with it, the raw food diet operates on the idea of eating food in its most natural state, uncooked and unprocessed. As with veganism, it is a lifestyle change, not a diet. The majority of what rawists eat is fruits and vegetables, but it also includes seeds, nuts, sprouts, seaweed, grains, and beans. I’ve not tried it myself, but I love some of the products and recipes that it has born, namely the desserts!

A product that I really enjoy is this raw parmesan….

As with everything that is specialized, this little guy is not cheap!….so I decided to make my own!

RAW VEGAN CHIPOTLE PARMESAN

2 T. walnuts

2 T. nutritional yeast

1/4 t. garlic powder

1/4 t. chipotle powder (or 1/8-1/4 t. cayenne, depending on how spicy you like it)

1/8 t. salt

Using a coffee grinder, whir the walnuts and the nutritional yeast until powdery. Stir in the rest.

This made enough and a little then-some to make the next part of this recipe…..

….THE FRIES!!

RAW AVOCADO FRIES

1 ripe avocado

1 raw vegan chipotle parmesan recipe

Slice the avocado into fries. Roll them gently in the vegan parmesan.

I know these probably sound weird, but if you like avocado, you’ll love these! I was initially going to mash it all together, but I thought these would be much prettier and a bit more elegant! You could definitely try the mash too, and dip some tortilla chips into the mix……yum-yum!

If this recipe doesn’t strike your fancy, check out my Banana Cream Protein Pancake recipe over at FitKit blog!

Have you ever tried to be a rawist?

What’s your favorite raw dessert?

I love avocado puddings! :-) Period.

I totally tried to do “raw” and then realized how much “work” it is to not be able to cook! :) I do like raw products but I like cooking and baking alot. However these avocado fries look amazing. I was eating avocado slices last night and added some lime and garlic powder for extra flavor but I need to try your seasoning! Hope you had a great weekend :)

What a great way to dress up avocado! I love to just eat them right out of the shell, but this would make a great alternative to that!

They are definitely tasty on their own, but this add a little crunch and a little kick!

I have noticed that you and I are often on the same wavelength with recipes. There have been a couple of times that I’ve gone to post something only to rethink because I didn’t want you to think I was copying you! :-) It’s all good. I love your site!

I’ve seen Parma at Whole Foods before, but because of the expense and not knowing if I’d like it, I haven’t bought it. Maybe I should give it a try . . . Great idea with the avocado fries! Looks great!

Thanks Michelle! Yeah, I love Parma, but it is pricey! I hope you do try it! This mix would be great on popcorn too! :-)
