This delicious burger sauce is the perfect accoutrement to burgers and fries, and you only need FOUR ingredients to make it!
If you've read my blog with any frequency, you know I make most things from scratch, even my ketchup!
Well, today I've bent that rule because this sauce is just that good.
I made it on whim once for our family's burgers, and it was lauded by my husband and kids to such an extreme, that I had to share it here.
It's super easy to make too, taking just a few minutes of mixing.
Ingredients needed
I'll preface this by telling you I've not made this with any substitutions, so do so at your own risk. I will mention my favorite clean brands though, no affiliation to any of the companies listed.
- Ketchup - My favorite ketchup is the organic one from Trader Joe's. It has straightforward ingredients and NO natural flavors.
- Yellow mustard - I either buy the Great Value brand from Walmart or the Natural Grocers house brand. Neither contain the ubiquitous 'spices' ingredient that's often in other mustards (even some of the high end brands!).
- Mayonnaise - I like the soy-free Vegenaise, Primal Kitchen, or Chosen Foods avocado oil mayo. The mustard included in the Chosen Foods brand contains 'spices', but I figure it's not much in relation to the other ingredients, and it's more cost effective for our family (Primal Kitchen is pricey!). Ideally, I'd make my own mayo, but it doesn't keep as well as the store-bought.
- Pickle juice - I buy Grillo's pickles from either Natural Grocers or Costco and use the juice in this recipe.
Recipe steps
Mix everything together until smooth!
Use the pickle juice to thin it out, if desired. I typically only add a teaspoon or two.
Recipe notes
This will keep in the fridge for at least two weeks in a sealed container.
